Air conditioning needs an inside unit and an outside unit. If you live in a flat that’s leasehold, you may need permission from the person or company that manages the building.

We’ll need access to an outside wall so that we can fit the outside unit. If you have a balcony or other means of access, choose ‘Yes’.

Higher storeys will cost a bit more, as we'll need extra bits to install the outdoor unit. If you live on the 2nd or 3rd floor we may need scaffolding. Select the highest floor if it is for more than one room.

Don’t worry if you’re not 100% sure, we'll check the product you choose is right for you later on in the process. Select the largest room if it is for more than one room.

If it’s a space that gets warm very quickly, like a conservatory or loft with lots of insulation, choose ‘Lots of sunlight’.

It’s recommended to choose a wall that faces the outside of your building, but if that’s not possible we just need to add in a few extra bits and bobs.

This is the unit that goes outside. For the best fit we usually recommend having it fitted on the same wall as the indoor unit and on the floor.

It doesn’t have to be exact. Look outside and give your best guess.

You need at least 2.5 metres of clearance between the wall where the outdoor unit will be fitted and the nearest boundary, wall or fence.
